Over 4 million people in Ethiopia are in immediate need of humanitarian aid. Hundreds of thousands of children in drought-affected areas are starving and require immediate therapeutic care in order to survive.
Since 2004, UNICEF has been providing supplementary feeding and vaccinations for children under-five. This has already saved many lives, but these activities are now under threat due to a lack of funds. UNICEF is appealing for £25 million to increase its response to the current crisis and prevent children's deaths from severe malnutrition.
