Hatenkou Yuugi - 3 Recap.

Hatenkou Yuugi episode 3 began yet again with Rahzel talking about a memory, but this time she is talking about how the time when Alzeid asked if she had ever been abandoned and she lied and said no - now, she is telling the story of what happened, somewhat. You see her as an adorable child in the woods holding someone's hand and she says that even though she knew he was going to leave once they started playing their game, that she refused to cry and would stand there and deal with it and that is what she does as he walks away.

It then goes back to their present time and it is night time and she is in adorable outfit with her hair in short pigtails and she and Alzeid are looking for Heat, yet again and not finding him. They are wandering around, looking for him, when Rahzel sees a little lost boy who is crying in the middle of the crowd. She stops and takes hold of his hand and then she and Alzeid get some balloons and he sits in Alzeid's shoulders as they look for his mother. When they see her, he jumps down and runs to her and they embrace very warmly and happily. After that she tells them that her and the boy, Romario, are going to the circus and she then invites Rahzel and Alzeid, too, in thanks for helping her child back to her. They agree and go with her and Rahzel expresses the excitement of a child while there.

The circus is very entertaining and Rahzel and Romario both are enjoying themselves, while Alzeid looks on bored and there is this one clown that looks very familiar with a mask on and he is dancing around and doing tricks everywhere and then a bunch of creepy clowns with knives come out of cars and throw them at him and he catches them all and everyone cheers. Within the next moment, he walks over to Rahzel and takes off the mask, showing that it's none other than Baroqueheat.

They are both shocked and then he sits with them and tells him that he works part time at the circus and Rahzel complains that they were looking for him. He tells them then that he used to work at a circus years ago and he still likes to do it part time when he can but when Rahzel asks him why he had to leave, he just makes a joke.

Then the main part of the show starts and a creepy woman ringleader magician comes out and chooses Romario from the crowd as her volunteer, commenting that he has beautiful hands. She puts him in a cage and he tells her that he plays the piano and she says it's good that he does something good with his beautiful hands and then covers it, then a bunch of the insane clowns come up and stab it, shocking the people in the crowd. The cage gets raised and she raises her hand over head and lowers it, the curtain drops and all the swords turn into doves and fly away and everyone cheers.

The show ends after that and then the three of them are waiting for Romario's mother who went to go and find Romario back stage, but she ends up telling them that he was already sent home. Alzeid, Rahzel and Heat go back to their rooms at the inn and go to sleep, but Rahzel, sensing dangerous auras, I guess, back at the circus, wakes up in the middle of the night and sneaks out back to the circus, but Heat and Alzeid obviously hear her and Heat mutters, "What is the doing?" But Alzeid says he doens't care and seemingly goes back to sleep.

Rahzel is running to the circus tent and as she approaches she starts to get attacked and throws the first clown over her shoulder only to see the female Ringleader there. She asks Rahzel what she's doing there in the middle of the night and Rahzel tells her that she is looking for Romario. The woman does not deny knowing who he is and tells Rahzel she will show him to her right now and then leads her into the back of the tent.

Back there, you see a scary lab-like thing with a huge tube with some kind of humanoid-like thing in it. The woman talks about how the boy's hands were only the useful thing, the rest of the body she did not need, but she would make him more perfect than he ever was before and Rahzel looks into the tube and to her horror, she sees sewing marks on the wrists of the person inside and realizes that it's the Romario's hands and that the rest of him must have been left for dead or just thrown away. The woman tells Rahzel then that she was pregnant once but she lost her child before it was born and its spirit was still trapped inside of her so she was making it the perfect body with different body parts and I guess, puppetry magic...

The woman then tells Rahzel that she has her own special show her and of course, Rahzel gets attacked, but by a ton of clowns. She beats the shit out of them and the woman is surprised she can use magic, but then the clowns get back up, much to Rahzel's horror. She beats some more up and runs out of that area into the next area and they pursue her and just as she is surrounded, her heroes, Alzeid and Baroqueheat, come to her rescue. She asks what they are doing there and they tell her they will protect her through all and then jump to her side and whisper into her ear asking her why she didn't ask them to help her and she yells at them, blushing, saying she didn't ask them to worry about her, but quickly signals for them to listen closely and then thanks them both for coming and they tell her it's fine. Then they say it's time to enjoy the fight and they do fight the other clowns and you finally get to see Heat's weapon, which is in the opening, but finally in action! His butterfly tattoo on his hand transformed his arm into a sexy sword and he kicked their asses and Rahzel pulled off her jacket to her outfit and had an even more awesome half-shirt with a lace-up bodice underneath - it was an awesome outfit, reminded me of a gypsy and then they start to fight together. The woman tells her that it's not even her controlling the puppets, that her son, in the tube, was protecting his other even before he was born. She then asks him to use his power to protect her even though it will hurt in his unfinished form and even though he appears to be screaming, he obliges.

Much to their shock, Rahzel, Heat and Alzeid are all forced with magic into pointing their weapons at each other - Alzeid pointing his gun to Rahzel's head - Rahzel using her magic and poinging it against Heat and Heat's sword at Alzeid and they are almost forced to kill each other like that, which would be Rahzel's worst fear, I would think. Just before they all kill each other, Rahzel starts screaming no and stop and the magic halts for a moment, but then the Ringleader starts screaming about why did he stop, why did her 'Viola' stop and he needs to use his hands and start killing now and... it is very disturbing, but he does.

Instead of killing them, he gets up and out of his tub that he is in and begins to strangle her and then does strangle her all the way to death and it is very sad. Alzeid explains that it was just a puppet in the end and that it followed the exact orders that she gave it and when it heard stop, it stopped and when she said to kill with its own hands, it killed the nearest thing, which happened to be its mother.

Rahzel then askes what would happen, but before she can finish, Baroque covers her eyes and begins to pull her away while Alzeid takes out his gun and walks over to the disturbing, bandaged creature, preparing to kill it. Heat tells her that this is not something she would want to see, but she flips out and breaks free of his grasp and runs down the hallway asking who are they to decide if it should die or not and something created wasn't different than something being born, but she doesn't make it in time... Alzeid shoots it and it falls on the floor as she gets there and she collapses, crying that to her, it was just a lost, trapped child and then cries some more.

The prologue to the episode, they are in the inn and they wake her up, acting all cheerful and happy and telling her that they are going to go out and have some fun. She is still depressed, but through her tears she nods and says okay, they should go and try to have some fun and then go off..

Thoughts - This was a depressing, but meaningful episode... I didn't expect it to get quite that serious so fast and when anything happens with children, it's always disturbing, but... I assume this is going to deeply affect them since the child was basically taken right out from underneath them and they both have a child/parent complex, but I can't wait to get into it. Rahzel is amazing and I love her attitude, but Heat and Alzeid together are a great team and I love having them on screen together so much. The end, after the mother was dead, to me, was the most meaningful part, but.. despite her being so against it, he still did it, so I think that should say something. I kind of wanted it to survive, it didn't look that bad from what I could see. I also wonder... is she a doll? Was she created and not born? I can't wait to see the next episode.
