Hatenkou Yuugi - 1 Recap & Screencaps.

I was pretty blown away about how much I really liked this first episode, especially after reading beforehand from other people that the episode seemed random and out there, but I did not find it to be that way at all. The voice actors also immediately caught my eye as the main girl, Rahzel is Nyu/Lucy from Elfen Lied, the beautiful man Alzeid is Cloud from Advent Children and Heat is Urahara from Bleach, so everyone had a good voice to begin with, especially the first two.

The episode starts with the adorable Rahzel sitting in her house reading a book and her father asks her if she thinks it is good for people to travel the world, as he thinks it is good for them and confused, she says, "Yes?" and simply that, before he kicks her out onto the street, telling her to go and explore the world.

She goes and sulks for a bit, but only for a few moments, talking to her stuffed teddy bear, her only companion and complaining about how she would not have eaten her side dishes that morning if she had known this was going to happen and what a mean father she had. This sulking only lasts a few moments, though, before she decides to go and start her journey, stating that it is pathetic to act like humans, suggesting she is not a human, which I already got from the hints of her sexy father, even though they did not show him all.

She walks down the roads of the little town talking to herself and stating that she needs some kind of travel companions for protection and entertainment, when just at that moment a beautifully handsome, mysterious man appeared before her with silver hair and grey eyes. At first she stares at him from an angle where we can't see him all, but after that it goes around and you see that he is holding a gun to some guy's head who is laying on the floor.

As she says something, the man looks at her and the culprit of whatever makes a run for it and then the man turns on her and puts the gun to her head asking what she wants. She is not frightened, at all, however and smiles and tells him that she swears to make his life more interesting and mysterious, so he will not live a boring life anymore.

This is how Alzeid and Rahzel met.

In the next scene, which I guess confused some people, Alzeid and Rahzel are in some woods at night staring up at a beautiful ghost in a tree. She is very sparkling and sad looking and Alzeid says something along the lines of, "This is more interesting? Frolicking with ghosts in the middle of the night is somehow not boring? Oh yes, interesting. Very interesting." All very sarcastically and Rahzel yells at him to shut the hell up before going on about how the ghost is not really that bad and she didn't really want to exorcise it, but she had to because .. and then it switches scenes again.

In the next scene, Alzeid and Rahzel are eating together in a restaurant and she asks him how he usually makes money and he tells her that he usually just takes it from who ever in the alley, but he is also very good at cards and gambling and she seems to like this insane masculine dangerous attitude because she is not bothered by his answers at all.

They decide they have to find some kind of work, but they do not know where to go, but as they are wandering around the town, Alzeid approaches a guy and attacks him, throwing him against the wall and staring down at him with a very evil, intense glare. Rahzel tells him that certainly is not going to work, but the camera continues to go back and forth between Alzeid's red eye and the man's stressed out and scared eye before he finally breaks and tells them that he knows of a place where they can get work, obviously surprising Rahzel, but amusing the utter hell out of me, haha. Alzeid is beyond awesome, he knows that he can just stare down people and scare them from being insane looking.

He looks like Chrno from Chrno Crusade in demon form, but without the demon markings and with different hair and hair color, but he is so beautiful, I am so in love.

From there, they go to a man's mansion in the town and he tells them that there is a horrible ghost haunting the people of the woods and so far she has not hurt someone and usually just guides them back, but she might eventually hurt someone, so he wants her gone. They say that they do not ask questions, just do their job and then head off to the woods she is haunting.

They find her pretty quickly and Alzeid asks Rahzel what she is going to do to make the ghost leave and she says she has not decided and he tells her he is not going to help at all, just watch since she was supposed to make his life more interesting and she tells him good, to watch and be entertained. She then stands out in the opening and tells the ghost to leave the woods so as not to tarnish Rahzel's reputation and pride in front of Alzeid, but the ghost just ignores her and goes on about how she is waiting for someone and if Rahzel would like to hear the story, she will tell her.

Rahzel immediately says no, she does not want to hear it, but the ghost starts up and Rahzel gets bored and goes and plays a game in the dirt with Alzeid, at which she loses a bunch of times, as the ghost tells a story about her being a farm girl and falling in love with a rich man and they were supposed to run away together, but one night when they were meeting, she tripped and fell... Yes, tripped and fell and she has been waiting her since. Rahzel then stands up and tells her that she should stop waiting for someone like that and they say that if the person really loved her that they would have come to lay flowers or something. In a rage she flips out and attacks them with scary white magic and she tells them to be quiet and she will wait forever and the next time, she will not be so nice and then vanishes.

Rahzel, being the weirdo she apparently is says that it will be the easiest to just find the person that the ghost was waiting for and bring him there so she can go rest in peace. But before that, she stops somewhere to eat and Alzeid comments that if she was hungry, she should have just said so and this is not gathering information, but then the man who gave them the job's people come and say that he wants to talk to them. They go to visit him and while there Rahzel says she knows exactly who it is - the man that ordered them to exorcise her and she says that since the ghost has hurt no one so far, it only made sense for someone that was close to her and didn't want her around, to want her gone. Then he goes on about how she was just some farm girl once and he couldn't give up his money and life for her and it was just convenient when she died, but now he wanted her gone from the woods, too, and to stop bothering him and Rahzel is annoyed that he always knew, but tells him that she will deal with it because it is her job.

As her and Alzeid are making their way out of the mansion, the man who hired them tells his thugs to take care of them. As Alzeid and Rahzel are walking she tells him that if she were the ghost, Noma-san, then she would just kill him and make him suffer a lot. Alzeid asks her if she has ever been abandoned and after a flashback of her as a child and being abandoned, she lies and tells him no and then he tells her to not say such heartless things then because it's annoying. She stands there confused a moment before following him inside. Outside the thugs are coming to beat them up and a mysterious man in the shadows smoking a cigarette with a butterfly tattoo on his hand warns them to not do anything like that or they really might regret it.

Rahzel seems like she is talking to herself in the next scene as she goes on about how she was careless and she should have been more thoughtful on saying things since she knows that Alzeid is out for revenge for his parents. You then see that she is actually talking to the person in the alley, who is sitting on the roof above her, smoking a cigarette and sitting with a little black kitten. She asks him if he thinks there are any feelings that remain after death and he asks her why she's so serious all of the sudden and while they are talking you see the thugs from before laying unconscious in the alley. The man tells Rahzel that he knows something he would hold onto and when she asks what, he tells her, "Rahzel-chan, of course!" and he also tells her that he will prove it through her body and she tells him to die once to prove it. She then says that she realizes there are some things there are no point in thinking about it and he tells her to just burn through it with her own beliefs. She then asks him to do some shopping for her and to get lots of sparkly and bright things.

Once in the woods, Rahzel wanders around and yells for the ghost to come and she immediately does, stating that Rahzel does not need to yell, but Rahzel goes on about telling her what happened and instead of acting surprised the ghost gets really mad and says that she just wanted to keep resting in peace before attacking them with wind. Rahzel, though, is apparently a magic user with little rose petals of power that she likes to shoot with a gun and when the ghost is surprised, Rahzel just says that she does not find it odd, just like ghosts and they fight for a moment before she breaks the ghost down and tells her to stop waiting for someone not worth it and even Alzeid tells her to not wait for someone that would only hurt her and Rahzel tells her he's just one man.

In an attempt at spite she floats over to Alzeid and asks Rahzel what she would do if she took Alzeid from her now, assuming he is her lover.

She is really funny, though, and at the end of the episode she goes to the man's house and floats through his door while he's sleeping and tells him that she has planted bombs all over his house and she will be gone forever after that. You then see the rest of the scene in the woods where Rahzel called the ghost an idiot and she wasn't sure where she came up with that conclusion, but her and Alzeid were just traveling together and had no promise to each other. He bugs out and screams and cries, but they lock the door and as he is freaking out inside, a bunch of fireworks go off outside, so there wasn't really a bomb at all, just fireworks with Alzeid and Rahzel.

In the final scene, the three of them are walking down a path, so apparently they both know the man, whose name is Baroqueheat and they call him Heat, and they are all walking along and Alzeid asks her if she wants a promise, talking about how she said they had no promises to stay with each other, but she just acts all happy and says that this is what they have for now.

I love the first episode, I am presently up to episode 3, but I wanted to start writing about them before I get too far, or it ends. This is simply an amazing anime so far, I am really entertained, I adore the characters, they have an awesome relationship and I really like all three of them. I am going to add some screencaps in a bit, but as I said, I just wanted to make sure I got something up.
